Director, Housing Operations


Located on the Xwemelch'stn (Capilano) Indian Reserve on Skwxw7mesh (Squamish) Nation Territory in West Vancouver, the Aboriginal Housing Management Association (AHMA) is an umbrella organization composed of 41 member organizations that are each Indigenous housing providers, representing over 5000 Indigenous families living in urban, rural and northern regions of British Columbia. 


AHMA is seeking an effective leader and business manager as their Director, Housing Operations. Reporting to the CEO, and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Housing Operations will lead AHMA's Housing Operations Division and will be a key contributor to the development and implementation of AHMA's Strategic Plan.


Leading and mentoring a team of portfolio managers, the Director, Housing Operations will support and enhance the operations of non-profit housing and service providers through ensuring the delivery of quality services and safe, affordable housing for the province's Indigenous communities. This includes overseeing financial management, disbursement of subsidies and supporting service providers with meeting the requirements set out in the agreements. 


This is a multi-faceted role whereby the Director will be strategic yet hands-on, will promote compliance while building capacity with service providers, and will be a relationship builder and advocate of AHMA. 


The ideal candidate brings a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline combined with a minimum of five years' experience in one or more of the following: project management, agreement management, asset management, property management, client services, stakeholder engagement, operations management.  


Superior communication skills and the ability to coach and mentor combined with a strong conviction to issues of fairness and justice are essential. Experience working in contract administration for the federal or provincial government is an asset.
