Director Human Resources

Our client, located in Victoria is a holding company with ownership in a range of diverse operating companies across a variety of industries. They have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional senior level human resources professional with a reputation for being a hands-on approachable HR leader and trusted business advisor with integrity. The Director of HR will have oversight of the provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the Group, ensuring consistency and alignment amongst an eclectic mix of companies. 

Reporting to the head of HR, the Director of HR will act as the key advisor to the Executives of each business unit on workforce issues affecting all entities, and support Business Unit CEOs on a range of HR matters. The Director, HR will help to foster a culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance all the while cultivating a culture of collaboration and respect.

The Director, HR will develop, guide and lead HR programs, ensuring programs are in alignment with the Group’s HR philosophy and support specific Business Units’ strategy, vision and mandate. Key areas of focus will include policy and program development, recruitment and retention, succession planning, performance management, development & training, compensation, employee relations, culture development, and management coaching.  

To be considered for this role you will have formal post-secondary education in Human Resources and at least 8 years of progressive HR business experience, ideally in a growing and progressive industrial environment. A CPHR designation would be considered an asset. Your HR background should include strong generalist experience across core HR functions, with solid knowledge of employment law, compensation & benefits, performance management, recruitment, employee engagement, organizational planning, and training & development. You will have a proven track record designing and implementing cohesive HR policies and procedures and you possess an open communication and collaborative style.

You are a solution focused and methodical problem solver with a track record of success as a business partner who provides sound advice, prioritizes well and executes on commitments. You embrace technology as a tool to enhance management practices, increase productivity, and optimize the level of service delivery. You are comfortable rolling up your sleeves and doing detailed work, and are also a strong big picture, strategic thinker. You are committed to customer service and a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
