Director Resource Development

What We Are Offering

For the first time in its prestigious history, The Pacific Alzheimer Research Foundation is looking to hire a Director, Resource Development to bring it through an exciting and important growth phase. The Foundation’s strengths as a significant funder of peer reviewed research throughout BC needs to be matched by an experienced leader in relationship-based fundraising.

Based on a new strategic plan for fundraising, the Director, Resource Development will fully plan and implement strategies that will significantly enhance the previous Government and matching Foundation funding, especially in the discovery, acquisition and stewardship of major gifts.

Innovation aligned with execution will be a hallmark of these efforts that will bring about results in each of the priority channels of fundraising.

Reporting directly to the Board, the Director Resource Development will work with board leadership to put the Pacific Alzheimer Research Foundation in its premier place in Canada.

About the Pacific Alzheimer Research Foundation

The Pacific Alzheimer Research Foundation is 100% focused on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia research. Spending is on peer reviewed projects having good prospects and may be done in collaboration with other top organizations; such as the Michael Smith Foundation (MSFHR) and Alzheimer Canada. Partners with PARF for a major initiative include Brain Canada, Genome BC, and MSFHR.

The Pacific Alzheimer Research Foundation is largely run by its volunteer board and one-part time contract person. It has little fixed overhead. The Foundation was originally funded with a $15 million Provincial Government grant. Having rarely solicited new funding, it is almost unknown outside the research community. Currently, it has approximately $4 million in investments. This is sufficient to cover its overhead. Therefor 100% of new funds will go to research.

To make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, the organization now needs to grow and to fundraise. Fortunately, it has some great strengths on which to build: it has engaged leaders, high quality peer reviewed research, it is well respected in the research community, and it has an industry leading low-cost operation. What it now needs is to achieve awareness among the public and donors.

Our Mission

The Pacific Alzheimer Research Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to supporting research into the causes, prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Our mission is to eradicate these illnesses by assisting scientists whose aim is to achieve this objective.

Our Purpose

What We Do
