Manager, Employee & Labour Relations

Our client is a fast growing, dynamic, industrial and manufacturing business with approximately 1000 employees within the greater Vancouver area. They currently have an opportunity for a Manager, Employee & Labour Relations to join their fast-paced team. Reporting to a Director, this is a unique opportunity for someone who would like to be the representative of the company on key employee and union interactions.

To be considered for the role, we are looking for professionals with relevant employee and labour relations experience. Ideally, backed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Law or Commerce with a complementary focus on labour relations, and you have a strong grasp of Labour law (especially BC Labour Law).  Your labour relations experience includes time spent preparing for and presenting arbitration cases and supporting complex negotiations.  You have experience leading collective bargaining and in bridging the terms of agreements against business priorities.  You also have experience as the go-to person for effectively and efficiently resolving employee issues whether the employee is unionized or non-unionized.  This is a great opportunity for the person who wants that next step in their career where they can play a pivotal role at the negotiation table as well as in dealing with employee concerns directly.

Your experience is ideally gained within an environment where the collective agreements are not mandated but rather within a private company where business priorities play a key role in determining the direction of negotiations. You are a true collaborator and team player who believes in the importance of bringing both sides of an issue, dispute or negotiation to a positive consensus. You take the time to listen beyond what is being said and will leverage your relationship building skills to ensure all parties feel heard, while maintaining corporate goals.

If this opportunity aligns with your background, then we look forward to hearing from you.  Please submit your resume and cover letter in confidence using the 'Apply For This Position' link below or, for more information please contact Lynn Armstrong or Kataneh Sherkat at WMC at (604) 687-0391.
