The Goh Ballet Academy is one of Canada's preeminent ballet training institutions, with an enviable international reputation for excellence. Established in 1978, the Academy is now under the direction of Ms. Chan Hon Goh, former Principal Dancer of the National Ballet of Canada.

Seeking to expand the Director's artistic vision, we currently have an opening in the position of Marketing and Communications Administrator. This person will work closely with the Director at a high level to provide vital information management and administrative support. We are looking to find someone with a creative eye that can assist with growing and expanding the business to new markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Create/improve/implement the process of marketing and communications initiatives, events or special projects. Develops strategies to maximize Goh Ballet's brand exposure in the media.
  • Provide marketing advice, direction and specific suggestions for meeting the objectives. Advises on structure, content and development of various marketing initiatives. Track and compile press coverage for regular media reports.
  • Manage Goh Ballet and Nutcracker websites and social media content, write content and edit when necessary. Activate and grow all platforms of social media. Plan and execute digital media exposure.
  • Respond to general inquiries (email/telephone/in-person/written correspondence) on Goh Ballet enrolments, classes, schedules, student call-ins, school performances, promotions and other activities in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
  • Observe/improve upon/make more efficient/supervise/implement office communications duties and procedures so that the office can operate smoothly and most efficiently, including training new staff members.
  • Writing correspondence for the Director and Academy in an excellent and accurate manner. Creates all speaking notes for presenters and emcees for various events around town.
  • Keep track of the Academy’s, Director’s and Nutcracker’s annual communications timeline/schedule and implement strategic plans to ensure the administrative department is prepared to support annual tasks and events.
  • Coordinate artistic events and presentations. Act as MC where needed. Manage RSVP and Invitation List.
  • Improve promotions and marketing for the Academy’s various programs through strategizing and implementing communications and marketing plans. Work and supervise hired communications companies on their duties and responsibilities.
  • Marketing, promoting and recruiting the enrolment of students and assessing enrolment to help monitor what strategies work and where we need to focus marketing dollars.

Undertake any other assignments from the Director and Principal as required.

The Successful Applicant will have the following skills and qualifications:

Excellent working knowledge of the English language with specific emphasis on marketing and writing skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Skills, proven ability to produce effective writing styles/formats for a wide variety of media, strong understanding of graphic design principles plus knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), familiarity with best practices in web content as well as site navigation, usability and design.

Qualified applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of three years of marketing or communications experience. Organizational, computer and interpersonal skills, ability to demonstrate and maintain a professional demeanor in all situations as well as to be able to withhold confidential information is a must.  May occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
