FNFMB - Manager, Standards & Certification - Financial Management Systems and Financial Performance

Manager, Standards and Certification – Financial Management Systems and Financial Performance

Our client continues to grow and is adding four more positions to their team! The First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB) has a unique opportunity for four exceptional and motivated senior level designated accountants with public practice audit and internal controls testing experience. This is an opportunity to join a great team and to make a difference!

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Standards and Certification you will work closely with First Nation clients across Canada and be accountable for the preparation and completion of financial management system and financial performance certification engagements.  Your role will have accountability for certification and standard setting responsibilities. As well as developing and maintaining strong working relationships with First Nations clients you will also work closely with other teams within the FMB.

Along with an accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) and a post-secondary degree you have 5+ years of experience planning and conducting internal or external audits of financial statements and internal control over financial reporting or similar areas. You will also have a minimum of three years experience in a professional services firm in a client service role, preferably within an assurance/audit practice at least at an audit senior level.  You will have extensive experience conducting and leading internal control and financial statement assurance engagements and managing the quality assurance review process. You have strong working knowledge of: Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards, Canadian Auditing Standards and Internal control over financial reporting (COSO, PCAOB). You have strong written and verbal communication skills along with project management skills. You are recognized for your ability to quickly build relationships and credibility.  Ideally you will have experience working with First Nations in an assurance or advisory role. Fluency in French (in addition to English) though not required would be an asset. You must have the ability and willingness to travel as well as work outside of regular business hours when necessary.

This is an opportunity to join a skilled, client-focused team in a positive and fast-paced environment. It is also a unique opportunity to bring your experience to make a difference to First Nations communities. Along with salary and bonus potential, this role offers an attractive benefit package that includes a group pension plan. The roles are based at the FMB offices located in the Park Royal office towers in West Vancouver.

The First Nations Financial Management Board is Canada's only legislated body that develops and publishes Financial Management System and Financial Performance Standards for First Nations. The FMB is an Aboriginal institution that provides a suite of financial management tools and services to First Nations governments seeking to strengthen their fiscal stewardship and accountability regime and develop necessary capacity to meet their expanding fiscal and financial management requirements.
