Senior Operations Manager (Canada)

WWL is a global company delivering innovative and sustainable global shipping and logistics solutions for manufacturers of cars, trucks, heavy equipment and specialized cargo. Its Canadian operations (WWL Canada) team is based in Delta, B.C. with primary vehicle storage facilities at its Delta site on Annacis Island and a second one in Richmond, B.C. It is part of the WWL North American business unit. The facility in BC has approximately 330 employees and efficiently moves approximately 420,000 vehicles on 20 inventory turns a year. It is a 7 day a week operation with the highest velocity of inventory turnover in the North America business unit.

In order to meet the increasing demand for WWL Canada services, the company has created the position of Senior Operations Manager. As a member of the senior management team, this individual will oversee a team of two Managers and nine supervisors in ensuring that performance goals for Safety and Environment, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Employee development and performance are achieved. Management of customer requests and customer relations will be an integral part of this. The Senior Operations Manager also Chairs the Labour/Management Committee and, as such, leads the collective bargaining team.

The successful candidate’s background will include at least 10 years of operations management and logistics experience, financial management and analyses background, contract negotiations with customers, vendors, property managers and labour unions. Experience in applying Quality and Lean management principles to Operations will be highly valued. Exceptional leadership and skills in team building and development will be essential. A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in business, and experience in logistics and the automotive industry preferred.
