Community Living BC Logo

Director, People Services

Established in 2005 from a grass roots movement led by families and self-advocates who wanted a government funded organization to focus on their unique needs, Community Living BC (CLBC) is a provincial crown corporation that delivers supports and services to adults with developmental disabilities and their families in British Columbia. Mandated under the Community Living Authority Act, CLBC is supported by funding from the BC Ministry of Social Development & Social Innovation. CLBC employs over 500 staff.  Staff work in partnership with individuals, families and service providers to create communities where people with developmental disabilities have more choices about how they live, work and contribute.

Due to a move, there is an opportunity for a seasoned Human Resources leader to join the Senior Management Team as CLBC’s new Director of People Services. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Services, you will provide overall direction and leadership to the People Services and Organizational Development & Learning teams in the design and delivery of programs and processes aimed at meeting the organization’s strategic plan and ensuring alignment to the vision, mission and values of CLBC. As the HR expert, you will oversee the delivery of programs covering labour & employee relations, total rewards, talent planning & acquisition, organizational development, training, health & safety as well as HR policy governance. Through consultation with the Senior Management Team and business partners across BC, you will support enhancements to employee performance and engagement. Your ability to proactively manage and deliver on multiple projects while building trust and credibility of the HR function will be key to success.

As the new Director, you are experienced in leading an HR portfolio with direct involvement in the planning and delivery of a wide range of HR programs. You have experience motivating teams while supporting the leadership in the delivery of strategic HR programs that are aligned with corporate goals. You have worked in a unionized setting, been involved in collective bargaining, and have supported managers across divisions in the grievance process. You understand the importance of best practice programs in attracting and retaining top talent and have used those best practices to motivate and empower your own teams. You are comfortable managing multiple projects, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to reach consensus and are able to communicate with impact and influence. Ideally backed by a degree and/or a CHRP designation, you have a good grasp of the various areas of HR including performance management, training, organizational development, compensation and policy governance as well as employee wellness and health and safety.

Most importantly, you are driven by a passion to contribute, to play a part in advancing the work that CLBC does for the communities across BC. If you are at a stage in your career where you are ready to bring your HR leadership to promote growth and make an impact in an exciting role, then we look forward to hearing from you.

Please submit your resume and cover letter in confidence, online. For more information, please contact Kataneh Sherkat of WMC at (604)443-3717.
